Nutrition is vital to cancer recovery as well as to overall vibrant well-being.

The nutrition programs at Wellness House address important topics for cancer survivorship, such as vegetables & whole grains; low-fat foods; high-fiber foods; alternatives for dairy and meat; nutrients, antioxidants & phytochemicals; immune enhancing foods; maintaining a healthy weight and more.

A Meal Can Heal

A Meal Can Heal is a monthly cooking demonstration class taught by an experienced specialist in cancer nutrition. Each cooking demonstration class provides direction in making delicious cancer-healthy recipes as well as discussion on the therapeutic qualities of ingredients.

Cooking Up Wellness

Cooking Up Wellness is a monthly class designed to focus on a different relevant nutritional theme for cancer recovery each month. It provides practical nutritional information and behavioral strategies in combination with cancer-specific cooking demonstrations.

Food For Life

Food for Life is a multi-class nutrition education program sponsored by The Cancer Project that features weekly cooking demonstrations on how to maximize healthy eating for cancer survival. The program features research-based information for moving toward a vegan diet to support cancer recovery. Each of the “how-to” sessions includes recipes, shopping tips and cooking instructions for preparing meals high in health-enhancing foods and cancer-fighting nutrients.

Sidelining Side Effects

Registration Required  

Designed specifically for individuals undergoing or about to begin treatment, this 4 week class series will focus on nutrition and lifestyle strategies to minimize and prevent side effects.

  • Week One:  Low Appetite or Excessive Weight Loss
  • Week Two: Taste Changes or Lack of Taste; Nausea & Vomiting
  • Week Three: Diarrhea & Constipation
  •  Week Four: Dry/Sore Mouth or Throat & Thick Saliva
