Mission Statement
Established
in 1990, Wellness House is a community-based independent organization that
offers psychosocial support, education and information, as a complement to
medical treatment to cancer patients, their families and friends. Wellness House
exists to improve the quality of life for people whose lives are affected by
cancer and its treatment. Program offerings include: support groups, education
programs, classes focusing on nutrition, exercise and stress reduction,
bereavement counseling and programs for children who have a loved one with
cancer. Wellness House has a comprehensive library that includes cancer specific
information from the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society.
Services are provided at
no charge
to participants. Funding comes from individual contributors, organizations,
corporations and foundations.
