A doctor’s own path to wellness.

A pediatrician, wife, and mother of five, Lynn Ables has dedicated most of her young life to helping others live better, healthier lives. From orphanages in India to conflict zones in Mexico, she brought her medical skills to many of the most impoverished corners of the world before she received her diagnosis. However, it isn’t her medical knowledge that has helped her battle her cancer. It’s the support she and her family have received from Wellness House.

 

“There is a lot of hand-holding and heart-holding that goes on [at Wellness House] that cannot be quantified or reflected in any program calendar,” Lynn relates. “They have allowed me to get my arms around this whole complex, messy, heart-wrenching business of cancer.”

For Lynn, being with others who understood her situation lightened her load and gave her a safe space, which she points out is a rare gift for people living with cancer. Wellness House enabled her to see life’s possibilities.

 

Her husband, Dennis, has found similar support for his journey, saying that “Wellness House is a stabilizing force in my unpredictable world. They have helped me to live in the moment and be calm.”
